Back in April when the 2009 Budget was announced, contractors and sub-contractors had their eyes on the Learning and Skills Council for clues as to where and when the body would spend its £300 million Budget windfall.

According to the Budget report the cash would enable the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to fund a limited number of projects, the money will be spent based on prioritisation criteria, such prioritisation will come from an agreement between the LSC and the sector.

Speaking to some contractors and sub-contractors providers working in the sector we found that the funding needed by the LSC is close to 3 billion, which means only a small number of projects will be salvaged and this is why contractors and subcontractors are desperate to know which construction projects will receive the funding.

Two months after the Budget announcement, so far only 8 of the 79 projects recently approved by the LSC have received the money to start their on site projects.
