A new report released today revealed that diet food brands and weight loss products are not as good as many people think.

Consumer watchdog Which? conducted the survey that analyzed nearly all the diet food brands and weight loss products on the market today, analysis of calories, fat and sugar levels were made and the results revealed some interesting facts.

Top brands like Kellogg’s Special K and Weight Watchers are among the brands to be named and blamed.

According to Which? One simple example is the cereal Special K, which has the same amount of calories per 30g as Kellogg’s Cornflakes and has more calories than Kellogg’s Branflakes.

McVitie’s Lights digestive biscuit was found to contain less fat than McVitie’s Original biscuits but more sugar.

The truth is, if you are looking for a New Year ‘quick-fix’ to lose a few pounds, don’t rely too much on weight loss products, and always read the entire label, even though what is there might not be true.

This survey also proves one important factor, a well planned marketing campaign and brand awareness can turn peoples’ mind and really sell a product, especially when we talk about big brands who invest millions in TV commercial and massive field marketing campaigns.
